Commemoration & Heritage

Recognising the importance of commemorating the deeds of those who have served before and fostering the legacy they have left for generations to come, we partner with RAAF Edinburgh and other stakeholders in conducting Air Force specific ceremonies, the preservation of Air Force heritage and educating South Australians on the Air Force story and South Australia’s contribution to that story.

Epic Flight Centenary

Epic Flight Centenary

In 2019, South Australia celebrated the centenary of the first flight across the world from England to Australia – an awesome feat achieved in a plane of wood, wire and fabric, with open cockpits and only a compass for navigation. Achieved by South Australians Sir Ross and Sir Keith Smith, the flight inspired a new generation. Click or tap the image to browse or download the Epic Flight Centenary booklet.
